I have had an off and on problem sleeping for at least 10 years. I do not like taking sleeping pills because they are addictive and make me feel drowsy the next day. Any suggestions for some natural remedies?

The mineral Magnesium is key to the natural production of seratonin. Seratonin helps to regulate sleep. A vast majority of people consuming the Standard American Diet are severly deficient in Magnesium. The most natural, but not the quickest, way to help your insomnia is to get more Magnesium into your system. The best natural source of magnesium is leafy greens. The darker the green the better. Eat more salads! Have at least one every day. (Iceburg lettuce doesn't count. Iceburg lettuce has absolutely no nutritional value. Try Romaine, Spinach or green or red leaf lettuce).

    It's not a cure…
    And it's not addictive…
But what I do when I can't fall asleep is take 2 Benadryl Allergy and chase them down with a shot or two of Tequila. I'm out in about 1/2 hour and I feel just fine in the morning.

    - Try "Sleepy Time" tea, I know many people who swear by this.

    - Try skipping a night's sleep and DON"T SLEEP during the next day, then go to bed at what you want to be your normal bed time, by then you should be tired and fall asleep pretty quickly.

Try drinking tea of Valerian or Passiflora (I prefer the latter, Valerian is too strong for me).
Put a bag of dried lavender in your pillowcase.
Take a hot bath with lavender and ylang ylang oils.
When lying in bed, lie on your back and breathe calmly and deeply, preferably through your tummy.
Don't eat too late (allow 2 to 3 hours for digestion) or too much at night, don't do exercise just before going to bed.
If all this still don't work, try a therapy: Holistic massage, aromatherapy, Indian Head Massage, Kinesiology and hypnotherapy are some really good ones (kinesiology was the most effective one for me!)
