I was given a weeks prescription as a short term solution as I was not sleeping at all and thought I was going insane from tiredness, but I feel as though they are making me depressed. I just feel so down all the time, and I think I can pin point it to when I started taking the meds. Is this possible and has anyone else experienced anything else like it? Thanks in advance.

Oh dear, what idiotic Doctor prescribed you a 'Z' drug for insomnia? He's clearly ignored current prescribing guidelines which discourages prescribing this drug in such instances.

You can become addicted to Zopiclone in as little as 4 days. If you take the drug for three nights in a row and omit on the fourth night, you will experience some degree of withdrawal. The body also develops tolerance very quickly to this drug very quickly, after which time it is completely worthless. Studies show that patients only got to sleep 30 minutes earlier than not taking Zopiclone.

A classic side effect of Benzo's is depression. Stop taking them and see your GP.

I've been taking them for some time now (apparently non addictive but I'm not convinced) but no serious side effects. I actually feel much much better simply for the fact that I have had 8 hours sleep!
