My girlfriend has been suffering from insomnia for the past couple years, she has to take ambien every night, shes become almost immune to it now and not even that helps her anymore. If she doesn't take anything she will be up for a week and start passing out. How can she start getting natural sleep for once? Can hypnosis work or is that all garbage? I'm desperately trying to find a cure to this without drugs. Please helpp. Thank you.
she is seeing a psychologist and they have done everything they can and they still can't seem to help her
Make sure that she is exercising daily, cutting out caffeine and not watching TV or internetting too close to bedtime. Also, Ambien can be highly addictive and she probably has become completely tolerant of it. She could also try taking a hot bath before she is ready to go to bed. All of these things have helped me. Also, she should go see a psychiatrist at this point for the insomnia, to regulate her meds.

try soft music and imagine urself on a calm beach. its basically meditation

Life, medical knowledge
Insomnia can be a symptom of other health problems such as depression. Strangely, an individual can be depressed and not even know it. If that's the case, until she gets whatever her other health problem is under control she will continue to suffer from insomnia. Some good practices are to have a daily routine at bedtime. Go to bed at the same time each night, brush your teeth right beforehand, etc. And keep the tv out of the bedroom. Bedrooms are for sleep and sex–that's it.
